The OpportunityWe are working with a specialist metrology equipment manufacturer supplying advanced measurement and inspection systems into a range of high-tech industries.
Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their team. This is a highly varied role, with the opportunity to work on sophisticated electromechanical equipment across a broad customer base.
You can expect to spend the majority of your time travelling to different customer sites, troubleshooting equipment, carrying out installations and commissioning, and ensuring customers receive a high level of technical support.
The role offers significant variety — you won't be tied to one site or customer, and you'll work with different technologies, applications and engineering teams across the US.
Key Responsibilities- Install, commission and service advanced metrology equipment at customer sites
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical and electromechanical issues
- Carry out preventative maintenance, repairs and equipment upgrades
- Support customers with technical issues and provide on-site training where required
- Work closely with internal engineering and technical teams to resolve more complex problems
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Develop strong working relationships with customers and become a trusted technical point of contact
- Travel extensively across the US, with approximately 90% travel expected (travel schedules typically arranged 2 weeks prior).
We are looking for an engineer who is comfortable working independently in a customer-facing environment and enjoys the variety that comes with a highly mobile field service role.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience working with electromechanical equipment
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience installing, commissioning, maintaining or repairing complex capital equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- The ability to work independently while travelling extensively
- A willingness to travel approximately 90% of the time
- A valid driving licence and passport, with the ability to travel throughout the US
