Bring Your Social Work Expertise Into the Classroom
Our organization is seeking a School Social Worker to join an Illinois school district for the academic year. This opportunity is designed for a student-focused professional who can help address the social, emotional, behavioral, and environmental factors that can create barriers to learning.
The Role
As part of the school's student services team, you'll work directly with students while partnering with teachers, administrators, families, and other professionals. You'll help identify student needs, provide appropriate interventions, and develop practical strategies that encourage positive behavior, stronger relationships, and greater engagement in school.
Key Duties:
- Provide individual and group counseling or social-emotional interventions.
- Assess student needs and recommend appropriate supports and services.
- Advocate for student needs and contribute to individualized support strategies.
- Connect students and families with relevant community resources and services.
- Assist with crisis response and other situations requiring immediate intervention.
- Collaborate with families and school staff regarding student concerns and progress.
- Maintain accurate case notes, service records, and student progress documentation.
- Participate in IEP meetings, student support meetings, and multidisciplinary planning.
- At least possess a Master’s degree in Social Work
- School-based experience is preferred but not required.
- Active Illinois PEL with School Social Worker endorsement.
