Field Trip Driver

Compensation Range: $20.25 - $22.25/hour

Benefits:
This is not a benefits-eligible position.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Under general supervision of Field Supervisor and Terminal Manager, shall be responsible for providing bus transportation for field trips and athletic events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position. * Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.

* Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

* Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

* Operates school buses to:

* Transport students on field trips and athletic events when these assignments are accepted.

* Responsible for maintaining order and ensure adherence to safety rules by:

* Explaining rules and regulations to students riding on the bus.

* Using assertive discipline and other acceptable techniques in dealing with student discipline.

* Completing disciplinary reports for students who do not respond to disciplinary actions.

* Turning in disciplinary reports to field supervisors.

* Performs daily pre-trip inspection of the bus as mandated by the State.

* Reports all accidents, mechanical problems, and hazardous conditions, immediately.

* Responsible for the care, cleanliness and gassing of bus driven.

* Attends training courses and meetings to increase skills related to transportation.

* Prepares reports and maintains records as requested.

* Carries out and obeys all laws and regulations of Rockford School District #205,

Transportation Department, State, Federal and other regulatory bodies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Commercial CDL license with all the endorsements needed to drive the school bus provided.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Basic reading and math skills. Good vision and hearing is essential.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
