Student Assistant 2 — Delaware County (4-H Department: FAES | Knox County-JM)
This position is located in Delaware County.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will be moderate and less routine and will require responsibility and good judgement. May coordinate activities for other student employees. Requires providing excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a professional environment. Requires previous experience and knowledge or skill in student assistant role. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.
OSU Extension in Delaware County is looking for a College Student Assistant to assist with the summer 4‑H Youth Development programs. The purpose of this county-based extension internship program is to provide an opportunity for a college student to gain workforce preparation skills to prepare them for success as they enter the first position of their professional careers. This summer position provides valuable pre‑professional experience for educational and community‑based careers.
Applicants must have completed one year of college and have evidence of successful leadership experience in 4‑H, school and/or community organizations. Candidates should be self‑motivated, possess strong organizational skills and must be available to work a flexible schedule including occasional nights and weekends. The Student Assistant will be provided with a variety of county‑based Extension workforce experiences. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Teach and assist county staff with summer STEAM Enrichment programs, including programming using Apple, Sphero Bolt, and Sphero Indy coding curriculum.
- Assist county staff with Summer Judging activities and Junior Fair preparations.
- Assist county staff in managing and creating social media posts.
- Assist county staff with summer youth camps (Cloverbud and 4‑H resident camps).
- Help prepare displays and materials for fair to promote youth programming efforts.
- Operate computer, copier, postage, and folding machines to prepare materials for mailings.
- Complete other assignments with the 4‑H Educator and County Extension staff relating to the OSU Extension program.
Hours are flexible. This position can work up to 28 hours if taking classes and up to 38 hours during the summer and/or academic breaks.
