The Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is committed to the reduction and prevention of juvenile delinquency by effectively intervening, educating and treating youth in order to strengthen families and increase public safety. ResponsibilitiesDaily responsibilities include housekeeping, physical and mechanical restraint of juveniles, medication administration, recreational activities, and direct supervision of juveniles in Youth Development Centers and Youth Detention Centers. Duties also include:
- Monitoring and supervising juveniles while housed, at school, and during daily activities.
- Maintaining a secure environment, monitoring and observing juveniles, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Providing feedback to the treatment team and completing daily records, including safety violations, activity briefing, crisis intervention events, behavioral problems/issues, and youth progress updates.
Positions are a direct care role with close personal and physical contact with court-ordered youth.
QualificationsMust be physically capable of restraining juveniles and defending self after training. Physical demands discussed in interview. Shift work required, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Candidates eligible for a shift premium of 10% when assigned to the 2nd or 3rd shift.
Education and ExperienceAssociate degree from an accredited institution; or high school diploma/ GED and two years of related human services experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements- Attend and complete Juvenile Justice Officer Basic Training certification program.
- Pass a criminal background check, drug screening, psychological test, sexual risk screening, and physical exam (vision and hearing).
- Be a U.S. citizen, at least 20 years old, and hold a valid driver’s license.
