Bookkeeper Bowers CPA – Rockland, ME

Bowers CPA is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper to join our growing team in Rockland, Maine. We are a locally trusted accounting firm dedicated to providing accurate, timely, and professional accounting and tax services to individuals and businesses throughout Midcoast Maine.

Position Overview

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for a variety of clients, processing day-to-day accounting transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with payroll and financial reporting. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with both numbers and people.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Proficiency with Quick Books Online (experience with other accounting software is a plus)
  • Understanding of bookkeeping principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Payroll processing experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines while working independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients using accounting software
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
  • Assist with payroll processing and payroll tax reporting
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and profit & loss reports
  • Communicate with clients regarding bookkeeping questions and required documentation
  • Assist with budgeting, account analysis, and other accounting projects as needed
  • Support tax preparation by ensuring financial records are accurate and complete
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality and comply with firm policies and professional standards
