Construction Division Manager

This well-established Massachusetts company is seeking an experienced Construction Division Manager to lead and grow its commercial Plumbing/Construction Division.

Founded in 1951, this is a third-generation Massachusetts company serving the commercial and industrial market. This is not simply a Senior Project Manager position. The Construction Division operates as its own profit center, with approximately $6 million in secured work, including signed projects that have not yet begun.

The Division Manager will take ownership of the division's people, projects, financial performance, client relationships and growth. With a target of approximately 25% growth over the next year, this is an opportunity to step into an established operation with meaningful work already under contract and build from there.

Reporting to the President, the Construction Division Manager will:

• Lead the day-to-day operations and financial performance of the division.
• Manage and develop project managers, estimators, foremen and field teams.
• Oversee commercial plumbing and gas projects from preconstruction and estimating through execution and closeout.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, job profitability, labor productivity, schedules and cost controls.
• Lead and support estimating, scopes, takeoffs and design-build opportunities.
• Maintain visibility into active projects, secured backlog and future manpower requirements.
• Oversee contracts, change orders, purchasing, billing and project closeout.
• Build relationships with general contractors, clients, architects and engineers.
• Drive growth through estimating, business development and new client opportunities.
• Maintain high standards for safety, quality, regulatory compliance and project execution.
• Improve operating procedures, reporting and project controls across the division.

The successful candidate will understand both construction and the business of construction.

We are looking for significant commercial or industrial construction experience, ideally within plumbing, gas, mechanical piping or a related trade, combined with:

• Proven leadership of multiple projects, teams and budgets.
• Strong project management and estimating capabilities.
• Understanding of job costing, forecasting, labor productivity and project profitability.
• Experience leading project managers, estimators, foremen and field personnel.
• Strong client-facing communication and relationship-development skills.
• The ability to contribute to the continued growth of the division.

A Massachusetts Master Plumber/Gas Fitter License is preferred but not required. Experience with Quote Soft or similar estimating software, design-build work, specialty gas, medical/dental gas systems or advanced mechanical piping is beneficial.

A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred, although equivalent industry experience will be considered.
