Paraprofessional Support In Special Education.

The special education paraprofessional serves as a supportive assistant to classroom and special education teachers. Under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher, the paraprofessional may assist with classroom management, collecting data, small group and individual instruction, coaching, monitoring, direction/redirection and, at times, physical support for students with special needs.

• Attain a high school diploma or its equivalent, two years of post‑secondary education or an associate’s degree, or successful completion of the “Parapro” or “Work Keys” assessment.
• Prior experience working with children in a school setting.
• Preferred: second language abilities, experience working with special needs students and ABA strategies; RBT certification would be an asset.

• Assisting students in achieving academic and social successes.
• Providing behavior support which includes physical management (training provided upon hire).
• Personal care.
• Consultation and collaboration with Special Education and Regular Education teachers as well as related service staff.
• Any and all other duties as may be assigned by the building administrator.
