The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the month-end close process with a strong focus on ASC
842 lease accounting. This role will be involved in managing complex accounting activities, analyzing financial records, and mentoring and coaching staff members. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and possesses a deep understanding of accounting principles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team to gather information on leases‑related transactions
- Evaluate Fair Market Value calculations provided by development team for proper lease classification
- Review lease data entered by the Staff Accountant to ensure accuracy and integrity
- Calculate and review lease liabilities and right‑of‑use assets in compliance with ASC 842
- Assist with landlord communications and ensure timely monthly rent and CAM payments
- Reconcile monthly lease expenses and perform variance analysis
- Reconcile various balance sheet accounts with supporting documentation
- Perform complex aspects of accounting operations in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Prepare recurring and non‑recurring journal entries and review journal entries of staff accountant
- Provide leadership and support to Accounts Receivable Specialists
- Mentor, train, and support the development of staff accountant
- Ensure timely completion of assigned month‑end close tasks
- Assist with annual financial audit by preparing and providing detailed supporting documentation
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders as needed
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting is strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 5‑7 years of related experience with increasing responsibility
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times
