Office Location

Rocklin, CA (Greater Sacramento Area) not a Remote or Hybrid position.

Must Haves

Estimating experience in Commercial Construction (5 years minimum). Large projects related to retail, site development, light industrial, tenant improvement, or grocery preferred.

Job Summary
  • Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Project Engineer (PE) is the primary support to the Project Manager and Superintendent in all aspects of the project from Startup to Closeout.
  • The PE's primary focus is achieving administrative mastery of TPC systems as relates to the "buyout," submittals, RFI's, project scheduling, the change order process, document control and project closeout.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Project Manager (PM), assist PM with all aspects of Project Management. May be given primary responsibility for a variety of Project Management duties.
  • Submittal Management:
    Coordinate with Subcontractors, Architects and Owners to facilitate timely review and processing of submittals.
  • Identify long lead times and ensure timely processing of submittals to facilitate delivery of materials to jobsite in order to meet Project Schedule.
  • RFI Management:
    Coordinate with Subcontractors, Architects and Owners to facilitate timely processing and distribution of RFI's.
  • Change Order Management:
    Under supervision of PM, responsible for procurement and management of Change Order Request (COR) process. Creation and tracking of RFQ's and COR's.
  • Maintain all required business related records and logs. Is organizationally responsible for timely and appropriate physical filing and record keeping if records are located at the jobsite.
  • Take weekly project progress photos.
  • Document Control:
    Assist PM in ensuring that office and field documents are updated. Update project documents.
  • Punch List Management:
    Assist PM and Project Superintendent with development and timely execution of project punch list.
  • Closeout documents:
    Coordinate timely assembly of all required project closeout documents including Warranties, Owners and Maintenance Manuals, As-built drawing, etc.
  • Understand and implement Company's Core Values which are reflected in work practices and attitude.
  • Understand and implement Company's Policies and Procedures as is evident by compliance in work practices.
  • Implement and adhere to all Company safety standards including Tilton Pacific's Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) and Heat Illness Prevention Plan (HIPP).
  • Assist Estimating Department as needed.
  • Assist Accounting Department with processing of subcontractor billings and owner invoices.
Skills and Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required (Construction Management or Engineering degree preferred) from an accredited 4-year University. Or five years experience in commercial construction.
  • Experience in commercial construction related to retail, site development, light industrial, tenant improvement or grocery preferred.
  • Certified Storm Water Inspector for General Construction preferred.
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) preferred.
  • Must have the following computer skills:
    Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Word and Excel. Working knowledge of Procore (preferred).
Working Conditions
  • This position is generally located in the company's main office in Rocklin, CA. Some travel may be required while visiting jobsites.
  • This position is classified as Exempt and employees may work more or less than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in any workweek without change in compensation.
  • This position is generally assigned to a Monday through Friday workweek between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but employees may be required to work any day at any time when deemed appropriate.
  • This position requires frequent visits to construction jobsites. Physical conditions at jobsites are varied.
  • Must be compliant with the Company Substance Abuse Policy.
  • Must adhere to all applicable Tilton Pacific Policy and Procedures.
  • Must adhere to Tilton Pacific Injury & Illness Prevention Plan.
