Responsibilities / Functions
  • Lecture/ Laboratory Presentation — Present lecture/laboratory information and concepts in a clear and logical manner; use current examples and/or analogies to convey important concepts; provide instructional objectives to assist student learning; outline, summarize and emphasize major points; enhance presentations with visual aids, handouts, and demonstrations; answer student questions clearly; encourage student participation in classroom discussions.
  • Student Performance Evaluation — Develop quizzes, examinations, term papers, homework assignments, projects, and laboratory assignments which fairly evaluate student progress; monitor student activity during examinations and quizzes; read, evaluate, and grade student responses on examinations, quizzes, and projects; advise students on matters regarding their academic performance; refer students to appropriate student services for specialized testing and tutoring.
  • Lecture/ Laboratory Preparation — Review and select textbooks appropriate for each course; develop supplemental materials for use in classroom and laboratory; develop syllabi; prepare lesson plans; coordinate lectures with laboratory assignments.
  • Curriculum Development — Review and evaluate curriculum to meet student interests and needs; coordinate with local businesses and advisory committees; collaborate with regular and part-time faculty to ensure course consistency; propose curriculum changes to committees.
  • Shared Governance Activities — Attend and participate in district, division, and department meetings; participate in advisory committee meetings; serve on district-wide committees and faculty evaluation committees as requested.
  • Student Services — Maintain regular office hours; support a diverse student population; participate in commencement and student award ceremonies; provide letters of reference as requested.
  • Special Programs — Participate in programs related to instruction enhancement (e.g., career fairs, outreach activities).
Minimum Qualifications

CCC Minimum Qualifications Handbook

Master's in the language being taught OR Bachelor's in the language being taught AND Master's in another language or linguistics OR the equivalent.

This position is a part-time faculty teaching assignment with the following salary rates:
Part-time Faculty Hourly Schedule. (Degree and years of acceptable teaching experience determine step placement)

Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credentials, transcripts, Live Scan, and tuberculosis examination as required. Verification of prior employment may be needed to determine minimum qualifications met.
