Position: Teacher of the Deaf - Beginning 2026-2027 School Year

Overview

A Teacher of the Deaf is responsible to the County Superintendent and works under the direct supervision of the designated manager(s).

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, aligning with district and state requirements.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, families, and related service providers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor student progress, adjust instructional strategies, and document outcomes as required.
  • Advocate for students’ communication and accessibility needs within the classroom and school environment.
Qualifications
  • Must possess the required level of education to obtain the appropriate authorization from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for the position.
  • Must possess an appropriate California teaching credential with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing authorization, Communication Handicapped, or the ability to obtain alternative certification.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain English Learner Authorization.
  • Possess documentation of American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) minimum score of 4.0 or equivalent assessment.
  • If hired, must provide proof of a valid California driver's license.

  • Credential Copy (California Teaching Credential with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Authorization, Communication Handicapped or the ability to obtain alternative certification)

  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (Two Letters of Recommendation required; each letter must be dated and signed)
