Under administrative direction of an educational administrator, provide lecture and laboratory instruction, to develop curriculum, evaluate performance of students engaged in the study of English as a Second Language, and to perform other related work, as required.

POSITION DUTIES AT A GLANCE- Teach ESL courses from novice through advanced levels, integrating reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, and pronunciation.
- Use equity-minded, culturally responsive instructional practices that promote active learning, critical thinking, and student success.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop and share instructional resources and support departmental initiatives.
- Partner with counselors, administrators, and program coordinators to enhance student retention and achievement.
- Participate in curriculum development, student learning outcomes assessment, and equity-focused review of course success data.
- Engage in campus governance, departmental activities, program review, and ongoing professional development.

Licenses/CertificationsESSENTIAL:
Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain prior to appointment to this faculty position a valid California Class C or higher drivers license in order to accomplish official travel in a District or privately owned vehicle.
ESSENTIAL:
Incumbent must possess a valid Master's Degree in TESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or Education with a TESL emphasis OR a Bachelor's Degree in TESL, TESOL, English with a TESL certificate, linguistics with a TESL certificate, or Applied Linguistics with a TESL certificate, or any foreign language with a TESL certificate AND a Master's Degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, English, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, Reading, Speech, or any foreign language OR the equivalent from an accredited education institution(s).

Verification of prior employment (teaching or work experience) may be needed to determine minimum qualifications met.
