Position SummaryForgen is seeking students pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; and other interested candidates to join our various project locations for internship opportunities.
This internship applies the general knowledge of the physical sciences and mathematics underlying engineering and specialized knowledge of the mechanics of solids (particularly of soils), hydraulics, theory of structure, strength of materials, engineering geology and surveying. The Project Engineer Intern assists with the overall execution of projects in accordance with the established budget, schedule, contract plans and specifications. Ensure the company’s safety culture is documented, communicated, and enforced in accordance with the company’s established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Field tasks: maintain project record documents, perform technical review of contract plans and specifications, provide oversight and documentation related to project quality control, prepare daily construction reports and progress tracking, manage and interpret site surveying, assist subcontractor management, procurement or rental of equipment and materials, assist Project Manager with daily cost reporting and tracking, travel to project sites for extended durations.
- Office tasks: assist in developing project cost estimates, proposals, and material take‑offs; perform technical analysis of remediation methodologies of previously remediated projects; perform other administrative or office duties as required; adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations; knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel; perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.
- Candidates must be working toward a BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive on behalf of company business.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
- Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- Experience with Microsoft Project scheduling software.
- Experience with USACE QCS System.
- Experience with site surveying, both conventional and GPS.
- Assisting with the development of cost estimates and proposals.
- Prior project experience with In‑Situ Stabilization.
- Prior experience with materials procurement and purchasing.
- Self‑motivated and interested in learning all aspects of environmental and geotechnical construction.
- Problem solving & risk assessment: evaluate risks and effectively resolve challenges, champion safety, and deliver exceptional quality standards.
- Autonomy & prioritization: self‑motivated, ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
This office and field hybrid role requires frequent computer use and effective communication. Site work may involve extended periods of standing or walking, required PPE, and potential exposure to heavy equipment, chemicals, dust, fumes, uneven terrain, and extreme weather.
Pay Range$27 - $27 USD
