Pioneer Community Energy Seeks Multiple Community Outreach Specialist To Support Expansion

The Community Outreach Specialist performs a wide range of duties in the management of relationships between Pioneer’s municipal and largest commercial clients, promoting programs, and troubleshooting complex billing.

Duties include:

  • Serving as a client advocate to address queries, resolve complaints, and prevent escalations.
  • Serving as a representative for Pioneer at community meetings, including but not limited to those organized by local Chambers of Commerce, business/fraternal/civic organizations, and others.
  • Responsible for a minimum of four (4) communities within Pioneer’s service area and maintaining a physical presence in those communities with at least one (1) visit per week to a community and a minimum of two (2) visits per month to each of those assigned communities.
  • Learning about the communities by collecting and analyzing economic, political, and social data; reviewing agendas of City Council/Board Supervisor meetings; being involved in the local Chambers of Commerce and other important organizations in the community; subscribing to local news outlets and monitoring community-based social media pages; and reporting any potential reputational challenges for rapid response.
  • Developing relationships with elected officials, city/county management, and key stakeholders.
  • Providing written reports on activities, highlighting key information relevant to Pioneer.
  • Educating clients on Pioneer’s rate offerings and promoting Pioneer’s programs including the 100% renewable energy option to help them meet corporate/public sustainability goals.
  • Exploring opportunities to increase Pioneer’s presence in the community through sponsor ships, economic development, and volunteering.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for municipal, large commercial and institutional accounts and identifying critical needs, facilitating billing inquiries, and ensuring overall satisfaction.

Qualified candidates will have an ability to speak effectively before community groups, governing boards or employees of members (bilingual skills are highly desirable), prepare reports and correspondence, and demonstrate a commitment to public power, electric reliability and affordability and to serving diverse communities.

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Communications, Public Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

Three years of experience working on publicly facing communications campaigns or relevant and direct experience working at a CCA or in an energy-related field.

The position requires evening and weekend work.
