Forgen EHS Manager

Location: Rocklin, CA

Position Summary

The Forgen EHS Manager leads the implementation and administration of the Forgen EHS Program. This role supports selected projects across the company, including high‑profile projects where superior safety and health performance is critical. The manager works on Forgen’s Incident and Injury Free (IIF) Commitment Journey, conducts and coordinates project audits, develops project Health and Safety plans (HASPs), supervises and supports EHS Supervisors/Technicians, conducts training, facilitates incident investigations, and communicates best practices to all levels of employees.

Responsibilities include air sampling and monitoring, permit reviews, development of consistent best practices and policies, and ensuring compliance with environmental and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the roles and responsibilities outlined on the Accountability Chart for the EHS Manager.
  • Drive a safety culture that promotes Incident and Injury Free Performance.
  • Provide effective safety and health support to project teams.
  • Assist the Regional EHS Manager with the development and administration of programs and policies that advance Forgen’s IIF commitment.
  • Identify safety training opportunities and program gaps and develop plans to address them.
  • Create and implement effective safety and health policies to strengthen existing policies and address gaps and deficiencies.
  • Deliver training, mentoring, and coaching to project teams and the EHS team on mandatory and proactive subjects.
  • Collaborate with project Operations teams to develop practices that support safety and health initiatives.
  • Engage proactively with project managers and supervisors to ensure understanding and compliance with safety practices.
  • Evaluate field operations, including emergency response procedures, for improvements in safety and risk control.
  • Provide statistical data and safety and health performance narratives to leadership.
  • Deliver reliable data for monitoring safety and health performance.
  • Help create, improve, and comply with project Health and Safety Plan (HASP).
  • Ensure consistent understanding and implementation of Forgen Safety and Health requirements.
  • Apply hazard identification and risk assessment processes at project sites and implement appropriate control measures to achieve ALARP.
  • Participate in the development and review of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHAs).
  • Ensure all Safety Observations, inspections, training data, project information, and incident reports are entered in EHS Insights.
  • Promote safety and health awareness through new hire orientation, safety training, and IIF campaigns.
  • Conduct effective investigations of incidents and near misses, develop final reports, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Participate fully and openly in all compliance assurance audits, inspections, and project meetings.
  • Serve as liaison between Forgen and client representatives.
  • Perform and document inspections (e.g., fire extinguisher, portable ladder, body harness).
  • Review project schedules weekly and communicate safety concerns to direct reporting line.
  • Conduct air sampling, monitoring, data logging, calibrate instruments, and perform basic IH tasks.
  • Follow up on certification, training, and medical screening expiration dates of project employees.
  • Identify personal protective equipment (PPE) needs, order, and issue PPE, and maintain adequate supplies.
  • Identify third‑party training needs and notify project team and direct line.
  • Develop safety and health training packages and ensure project personnel are trained per the Training Matrix.
  • Ensure Project HASP aligns with client requirements.
  • Evaluate and establish occupational clinics at project locations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel; exhibit strong written and verbal communication and effective problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of project plans, contract requirements, and safety policies; perform under pressure and influence outcomes effectively.
