Town of Rockport | Health Agent
The Town of Rockport is seeking qualified applicants to join our team as a part-time (19 hours/week non-benefitted) Health Agent reporting to the Public Health Director. This position is responsible for inspections and enforcing the provisions of various federal, state, and local public health laws and regulations. Other responsibilities as Health Agent include assisting the Director based on departmental needs.
Duties- Participates fully as an integrated member of the Health Department team.
- Administers and enforces the provisions of federal, state and local public health laws and rules, regulations and programs. Works with permit holders and the public to achieve compliance; reports to the Public Health Director concerning compliance. Includes the inspection of food service establishments and short-term rental units. Responds to complaints related to housing, nuisance and other areas as required. Includes responses during off‑hours as assigned.
- Maintains data/records using departmental records management software. Supplies and generates inspection reports in a timely fashion.
- Attends courses and trainings to maintain current knowledge and certifications.
- Performs other duties as required by the Public Health Director.
- Minimum qualifications and requirements after hire align with the Workforce Standards for the Inspector/Environmental Health Specialist level position as per the DPH Office of Local and Regional Health (including ICS 100 & 200 and NIMS 700 Incident Command Training within one year of hire).
- Ability to interpret and enforce regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of objects and materials weighing up to 25-50 pounds.
- Duties may require climbing, reaching, bending, and kneeling to perform essential tasks in both normal and abnormal environments.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Highly self‑motivated. High attention to detail, ability to multi‑task.
