The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
If filled at the Accountant/Auditor I, Grade 18, the hiring range is $62,328 to $98,198.
If filled at the Accountant/Auditor II, Grade 21, the hiring range is $70,556 to $101,383.
If filled at the Accountant/Auditor III, Grade 23, the hiring range is $76,742 - $121,347.

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Department of Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) revenue recovery and financial operations, including reimbursement billing, accounts receivable reconciliation, and medical billing oversight. The role ensures compliance with fiscal policies, supports accurate financial reporting, and maintains systems that facilitate the collection and tracking of revenue through the County’s Oracle ERP and related platforms.
This position may be underfilled as an Accountant/Auditor I, Grade 18, or an Accountant/Auditor II, Grade 21. Once the employee is at full performance and meets the minimum requirements of the Proficiency Advancement process, they are eligible for the non-competitive promotion through the series to the Accountant/Auditor III, Grade 23.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of the Department of Health and Human Services. By managing revenue recovery, overseeing medical billing operations, and maintaining accurate financial systems, you will help secure funding for essential programs that serve our community.
Duties include, but are not limited to:- The Revenue, Accounts Receivable & Medical Billings Accountant will oversee, monitor and conduct the Department’s collection of revenue, and medical billings reimbursements.
- Review of medical billing for completeness prior to transmission to insurance companies; follow up and appeal of denied claims as well as analysis of denial reasons; reconciliation of transmitted claims with amounts paid; write-off of uncollected amounts; preparation of revenue reports by program; update/modify any related billing system changes, and auditing of medical billing for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with various program areas the methodology and procedures necessary to facilitate HIPAA compliant medical billing software. Also develop written comprehensive policies and procedures regarding the billing process reflects and reinforces current Federal and State statutes.
- Maintain the electronic billing system, reconcile revenue with County ERP Oracle system, and HHS access database system. Track reimbursement with clearinghouse and other third parties' insurance systems.
