Salary ranges for this position are as follows.
Accountant/Auditor I, Grade 18: $62,328 - $97,451
Accountant/Auditor II, Grade 21: $70,556 - $112,166
Accountant/Auditor III, Grade 23: $76,742 - $122,168
WHO WE AREThe Department of Finance is responsible for the financial administration of the County government, including accounting and payroll, debt and cash management, tax billing and revenue collection, economic and revenue forecasting, and risk management.
WHOWE ARE LOOKING FORThe Department of Finance is recruiting for an Accountant/Auditor III to prudently manage financial operations, recommend and implement sound fiscal policies, safeguard public assets, and encourage a safe environment on public property. The selected employee will perform professional accounting and auditing work, must understand generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP), and be proficient in using large ERP accounting systems and other current technology.
Experience with Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) accounting standards and other governmental accounting requirements is preferred but not required.
- Preparing the monthly and annual close work papers for the assigned funds, including detailed analyses of accounts.
- Preparing records for the disbursement of funds.
- Preparing financial statements and disclosures for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
- Preparing complex account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Serving as a financial resource for other departments, researching and implementing new standards, processes, and policies.
- Preparing other reports to meet County, state, and federal mandates.
If filled at Accountant/Auditor III: Three (3) years of experience performing professional accounting work comparable to the Accountant/Auditor II.
If filled at Accountant/Auditor II: Two (2) years of experience performing professional accounting work comparable to the Accountant/Auditor I.
If filled at Accountant/Auditor I: One (1) year of experience performing professional accounting work.
EDUCATIONGraduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field with major accounting coursework.
SUBSTITUTIONCertification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) may be substituted for a degree in Accounting or a major in Accounting.
