Role Description The Payroll Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Rockville, MD. This position is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, including collecting and verifying time and attendance data, entering and updating employee information, and ensuring timely and accurate payroll runs. The role includes calculating wages, deductions, and benefits, handling garnishments, and preparing payroll-related reports. The Payroll Specialist ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, responds to client and employee payroll inquiries, and coordinates with internal accounting staff to reconcile payroll records.
This role also supports process improvements and helps maintain secure, organized payroll documentation.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Payroll Processing and Payroll Services to manage end-to-end payroll cycles accurately and efficiently.
- Candidates should possess expertise in Payroll Taxes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Candidates should possess solid Payroll Administration skills, including maintaining employee records and managing payroll systems.
- Candidates should possess experience handling Garnishments and other payroll-related deductions in accordance with legal requirements.
- Additional qualifications include attention to detail, strong numerical and analytical skills, and proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams are required.
- Prior experience in an accounting or tax services environment and knowledge of HR or benefits administration are beneficial.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, is preferred.
