Senior Accountant

Our client, a growing commercial real estate company in Rockville, MD is looking for a Senior Accountant to support financial operations for a nationally diversified real estate portfolio. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate accounting/reporting, strengthening accounting controls, and delivering meaningful financial insight to leadership and investment stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Controller the ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze financial reports for a portfolio of real estate assets, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Review general ledger activity and reconciliations to confirm transactions are properly recorded and reported.
• Lead month-end accounting tasks, including journal entries, account analysis, and closing support across assigned entities.
• Investigate material fluctuations in financial results and present clear findings to executives and investor-facing stakeholders.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to develop reliable budgets and support financial planning efforts.
• Coordinate with external auditors and accounting partners to complete year-end reporting requirements and audit deliverables.
• Contribute to the evaluation of new investment opportunities by providing accounting support and financial due diligence input.
• Help improve accounting operations by supporting the development and rollout of new tools, workflows, and reporting practices.

The ideal candidate for this Senior Accountant role will have 3+ years of Big 4/large regional audit experience or commercial real estate accounting, CPA or CPA candidate and a BS in Accounting. This role is 5 days/week in the office in Rockville, MD with quarterly travel up to NY. Comp range for this role is 100-130K in base salary + full benefits.
