Excavator Operator

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Excavator Operator to join our construction team in the DC Metro area. The Excavator Operator will be responsible for operating heavy equipment to support a variety of construction and site development projects including excavation, grading, trenching, and material handling. The ideal candidate will have experience working on commercial, residential, or roadway projects and will be committed to maintaining a safe and productive job site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate excavators and other heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner on construction sites
  • Perform excavation, trenching, grading, back filling, and site preparation work
  • Load and move materials such as soil, gravel, and debris as directed by the site supervisor
  • Follow site plans, grade stakes, and project specifications to complete work accurately
  • Conduct daily pre-operation inspections of equipment and report any maintenance or safety issues
  • Perform routine maintenance including cleaning, greasing, and fueling equipment
  • Work closely with ground crews, foremen, and project managers to complete tasks efficiently
  • Maintain awareness of underground utilities and ensure safe digging practices
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and job site safety regulations
  • Assist with other general labor or site tasks as needed
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating excavators in a construction environment
  • Experience with trenching, grading, utility installation, and site development preferred
  • Ability to read site plans, grade stakes, and construction drawings
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks when required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
