Electrical Estimator
Conduct initial analysis of drawing and specifications, ensuring required information is provided;
Provide narratives for selected portions cost estimate to adequately describe scope and level of quality within an estimate;
Research selected products from a cost, schedule and constructability perspective. This includes emailing, internet research and phone calling to the subcontractor and vendor community;
Solicit sub-contractor pricing and bids for select trades and vendors in preparation of cost estimates for CM/CMAR/Design-Build Projects;
Review progress and construction documents for constructability. Lead and participate in discussing regarding alternate detail and materials for specific areas or trades;
Provide and present Value Management options and costs for select trades to Preconstruction Director and/or VP of Preconstruction;
Preparation of Scope Leveling Sheets, Bid Leveling of Subcontractors and Vendors;
Coordinate administrative staff in sending documents to vendors;
Ability to attend and participate in estimate presentations to clients;
Have the ability to do complete estimates on sections of larger projects and full estimates on smaller to mid-size projects. This includes negotiated and lump sum projects;
Have an overview understanding of the companies risk management process
Experience working as part of ground-up or existing construction projects of $20m or more in any of the following areas:
Healthcare, Higher Education, K-12 Education, Mission Critical (highly technical, secure facilities), Life Sciences, High Rises, Commercial;
Proficient in selected company technology or ability to quickly master technology as related to Preconstruction. Specific use of prescribed systems such as Microsoft Applications, OST, SAGE, REVIT, etc.;
Ability to make decisions, work independently and coordinate with Preconstruction Director and/or VP of Preconstruction;
Ability to communicate orally and writing in a clear and concise manner;
Ability to meet critical project deadlines, willingness to coordinate and work as a Team Member;
Have a basic understanding of MEP building systems;
Have basic understanding of VDC/BIM and its applications;
College degree in Architecture, Electrical Engineering or Construction Management;
Ability to read blueprints, and specifications, note important information and communicate the findings to the team and subcontractors;
Punctuality and the ability to be at either Midtown Manhattan or Parsippany NJ offices, plus visit area jobsites or other local Skanska offices;
Minimum 5 years’ experience comprised of Cost Estimating/Preconstruction, Project Management and Project Field Experience.
