Position: Teaching Assistant (TA) - SY 2026/2027
The Katherine Thomas School Program, in Rockville, MD, serves students in grades K-8 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTS has an opportunity for a full-time Special Education Teaching Assistant (TA) beginning with the 2026/2027 school year. Working hours are 8:30 am to 4:15 pm M

Hourly Rate of $19 - $24/hour, DOE

Teaching Assistant position responsibilities include:

* Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula

* Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher's instruction and school/program rules

* Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs

* Create a supportive learning environment

* Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

* Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports

Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:

* MUST have a Bachelors Degree

* Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred

* Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful

* Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented

* Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
