Description:
Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the coordinator supports the administration and coordination of the Division of Teaching and Learning and its departments; manages cross‑divisional regulatory and contractual processes; oversees secondary course development and related publications; and leads international education collaborations. The coordinator is also responsible for planning and facilitating professional learning for division staff and managing special projects on behalf of the Chief Academic Officer.

Knowledge of Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) laws and guidelines relative to K‑12 public school instruction, grading and reporting. Thorough knowledge of K‑12 public school organization, operations, and office management systems, preferably within MCPS. Considerable knowledge of public school policies, regulations, curriculum, and instructional programs, preferably within MCPS, as well as expertise in planning, implementation, evaluation, and data analysis to inform decisions.
Familiarity with local, state, and national educational issues, priorities, and assessments, along with strong technology skills to support communication and planning. Excellent writing, organizational, management, time management, oral communication, and interpersonal skills are required, as is the ability to work effectively with principals, staff, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders. Knowledge of, and the ability to apply, MCPS professional growth systems.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Training, and
Experience:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Five years of outstanding teaching experience or a combination of teaching, school administration, and other professional experience in which the candidate has demonstrated consistently high‑quality work, initiative and leadership in a public school environment. Experience planning and facilitating professional learning for staff is also required. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Certificate/License:
Meets Maryland state certification requirements for Administrator I or II.
