Job Description

The Katherine Thomas School in Rockville, MD seeks to hire a FT or PT drama teacher beginning with the 2026/2027 year. KTS is a private special education school serving students with language, learning, sensory motor disabilities and/or high functioning autism. The elementary/middle school program includes classes for K-8th grade. Hours are 8:30am - 4:15pm. EOE

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement content area curricula
  • Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group and program needs
  • Implement IEPs
  • Create a supportive learning environment
  • Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Create partnerships with parents and the Katherine Thomas School Community
  • Create fun and engaging lessons

Full-time annual salary range of $62,000 to $85,000, depending on experience and level of education. Part-time would be prorated.

Must be able to work in the US, no sponsorship available.

Experience and Skills

Required Experience for the Drama Teacher:

  • Bachelor's degree in special education or content area (Drama)
  • Must be licensed or able to be licensed as a special educator in Maryland-- this includes completing a program leading to licensure
  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments preferred
