Lower School Special Education Resource Teacher (full time or part time

Berman Hebrew Academy is a Modern Orthodox Jewish day school that provides a comprehensive Jewish and secular education in an atmosphere of reverence, good citizenship, and love of the Jewish people and Israel. Adhering to standards of academic excellence and exemplary moral conduct, it provides opportunities for each student to achieve the maximum of his or her potential, engaged with and contributing to both the Jewish community and the society at large.

The ideal candidate will be part of a team of other special educators that works through the Educational Support Services Department, providing a variety of strategies and intervention to students with diverse learning needs, both in and out of the classroom setting. In addition to providing direct remedial support to students in both pull out and push in models, other responsibilities include designing individual education plans, case management, attending educational management team meetings and close collaboration with classroom teachers.

Other duties to support the school day are also expected.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field
• Demonstrated successful experience working with elementary-age students
• Experience with students with learning disabilities in math and/or reading, ADHD, autism, etc
• Experience with ESOL, preferred
• Experience with Orton Gilligham based reading methods and the science or reading, preferred
• Teacher certification, preferred

Expected Salary Range: $40,000-$90,000 based on education and experience.
