Summary Description Of Classification
In alignment with the priorities from the Division of Multilingual Education the Students with Limited/ Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) Coach will provide professional learning and instructional coaching to build the capacity of general education and English Language Development staff to support the language and academic content needs of SLIFE. The SLIFE Coach will support school-based staff to promote effective instructional practices in order to bridge language and content and increase student achievement.
The SLIFE Coach will engage in co-planning, modeling, and observation and feedback cycles with educators across school buildings. The Coach will collaborate with the EML Therapeutic Counselors to ensure that the social-emotional needs of the students are being addressed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position will require travel between school buildings. Other as required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
The wage range for this position is a salary between $66,690 and $135,745 based on education and experience.

- Considerable knowledge of English language Development methods and instructional strategies.
- Experience analyzing student performance data, providing effective English language development instruction, and using the WIDA English Language Development Framework and other research to inform practice.
- Experience providing targeted foundational literacy instruction to students, with a background in the methods of the Science of Reading.
- Demonstrates ability to collaborate with staff and school-based administrators and experience formulating instructional strategies to meet student needs.
- Ability to understand and support students in the process of adjustment to the academic and cultural environment in MCPS.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Experience serving as a team lead or instructional coach.
- Experience teaching English Language Development utilizing the 2020 WIDA Framework, Common Core State Standards (in particular Math Grades K-6) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) preferred.
- Fluency in another language, in addition to English, preferred.
Master?s degree or equivalency with courses in English Language Development, specified content area specialization, assessment/evaluation, administration and supervision, professional development, or accelerated and enriched instruction.
Five years or more successful experience as a classroom teacher and/or ELD teacher in the specified content. School-based instructional leadership desirable. Successful experience developing and supporting curriculum implementation and developing culturally relevant teaching practices among educators.
