Position: Grades 6 - 8 Math Special Education Teacher | Rockville, Maryland

In this rewarding contract opportunity, you'll make a meaningful impact as a Middle School Math Special Education Teacher for students in grades 6-8. This full-time position runs Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:15pm, with compensation provided over a 12-month period. The school’s specialized program serves students with a range of autism spectrum attributes and learning disabilities, offering a rich and collaborative environment where your expertise is highly valued.

Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing engaging math lessons tailored to the unique learning needs of middle schoolers with diverse abilities. You'll partner closely with other educators and support staff to foster a supportive classroom atmosphere, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and help students build academic and life skills. This role provides daily opportunities to inspire growth, encourage curiosity, and celebrate progress.

Qualifications

&

Experience:
  • Valid Maryland Special Education Certification (minimum grades 6–12)
  • Maryland Math Certification (grades 6–12 required)
  • Candidates eligible for SPED certification who already hold math certification are also encouraged to apply
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting students with autism and various learning disabilities preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and encouraging learning environment
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver standards-based math instruction adapted to each student’s abilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues and families to develop and implement IEPs
  • Track and assess student progress toward IEP goals
  • Encourage social, academic, and behavioral growth
  • Maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment

For this vital role, compensation ranges from $62,000 to $85,000, based on your experience and education level.
