Job Description
The Katherine Thomas School, a nonpublic special education school in Rockville, MD, is seeking to hire a reading teacher/reading specialist for the school year for grades 6-8. Reading teachers will work for the Middle school program. EOE
Annual salary range of $62,000 to $85,000, depending on experience and level of education

- Provide targeted reading instruction using evidence based, structured literacy practices for students with a range of learning needs
- Must know and implement a variety of alternative reading programs, (examples include:
Wilson, Fundations, Edmark, Phono-Graphix, Read Naturally, Lexia, Earobics, Orton-Gillingham, Corrective Reading, Leveled Literacy Intervention, Lindamood Bell and others) - Deliver small group and/or individualized interventions aligned to student IEP goals
- Must have a Bachelor's degree
- Must be eligible for or have Maryland Special Education Teaching certification
- Experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments preferred
- Must be team oriented, reliable, and have a professional attitude
- Must have mastery of the content area
- Must have experience teaching reading strategies and study skills
- Must possess analytical abilities sufficient to implement and develop curriculum, assess student abilities, and devise Individual Educational Plans
