Associate Director of EHS AA-

A growing biotech company is seeking an Associate Director of EHS to lead its cross‑functional EHS programs, working closely with a small team of EHS professionals based from their campus in Rockville, MD. They will be tasked with overseeing organizational compliance with local, state and federal EH&S regulations and will be responsible for fostering a proactive safety approach, requiring the ability to analyze job hazards in a variety of industrial settings to implement best practices.

• Develops and implements a long‑term plan for the EHS function with minimal supervision
• Oversees safety programs related to bulk chemical operations, corrosives, high‑hazard materials, GHS‑classified substances, and BSL‑2 biological materials
• Partners with R&D and manufacturing teams to evaluate new materials, processes, and equipment
• Promotes continuous improvement in the EHS function, integrating tactical & strategic EHS planning
• Serves as a senior technical resource on biosafety, chemical safety, and general safety compliance.

• 10+ years progressive experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment including R&D and laboratories
• 4+ years Biosafety experience including experience with BSL 2 materials or higher
• Safety experience within chemical or pharmaceutical setting
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, EHS or related fields
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage other
