A System Engineer at Erias Ventures is responsible for analyzing user requirements, developing system requirements specifications, leading design and development activities, and providing technical leadership throughout the system engineering lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Analyze user requirements and concept of operations documents to develop system requirements specifications.
- Lead design and development activities and guide users in formulating requirements.
- Advise on alternative approaches and conduct feasibility studies.
- Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
- Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.
- Develop technical documentation, system architecture and system design documentation.
- Guide system development and implementation planning through preparation of system engineering management plans and integration & test plans.
- Interact with the Government regarding systems engineering technical considerations and related issues, conflicts.
- Ensure the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables in the systems engineering area.
- Communicate with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
- Contribute to the development of systems engineering documentation (Plans, Initial Capability Documents, Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents).
- Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure production systems align with defined architecture (DoDAF, SOA, etc).
- Assist with development of functional requirements and allocation to components.
- Coordinate resolution of action items from CCB meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination.
- Participate in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities based on evaluation of all necessary development and operational considerations.
- Participate in interface definition, design, and changes to configuration throughout the life cycle.
- Allocate real‑time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components.
- Derive understanding of stakeholder needs, functions logically inferred, and ensure requirements are complete, correct, unique, unambiguous, realizable, and verifiable.
- Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures and design solutions.
- Establish and gain approval of the definition of a system or component under development (requirements, designs, interfaces, test procedures, etc.).
- Define methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for verifying systems, subsystems and work products against their requirements.
- Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements and fulfill functional analysis.
- Develop derived security requirements for Information Assurance Services (Confidentiality, Integrity, Non‑repudiation, Availability).
- Specify basic information assurance mechanisms (Identification, Authentication, Access Control, Accountability) and security mechanisms (Passwords, cryptography, discretionary access control, mandatory access control, hashing, key management, etc.).
- Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structure, work packages and integrated master plan.
A current Top‑Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.
Required Skills- Seven (7) years’ experience as a System Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) additional years of SE experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree.
- Experience and interest in interacting with users to translate user experience with our technology stack into actionable work items.
- Must be able to:
- Document user operations using front‑end tools to assist in test plan development.
- Assist in documenting the architecture, data flows and workflows of a complex technology solution.
