Position: Electrical Engineer III – Spacecraft Programs (EPS) Rockville, MD

Electrical Engineer III – Spacecraft Programs (EPS) Who We’re Looking For

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high‑mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly. We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and testing of spacecraft electrical systems and defense‑related space technologies. In this role, you will contribute to spacecraft avionics, communications, power systems, embedded electronics, and hardware integration activities while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

You will work hands‑on with cutting‑edge aerospace hardware in a fast‑paced environment supporting national security and spaceflight missions.

Where You’ll Make an Impact
  • Lead Electric Power Subsystem (EPS) development across Ranger spacecraft programs from architecture definition through integration and flight readiness
  • Derive EPS subsystem requirements from spacecraft‑ and mission‑level requirements while maintaining requirement traceability throughout development
  • Author and maintain EPS Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and coordinate electrical and operational interfaces across impacted spacecraft subsystems
  • Perform spacecraft power generation, storage, and distribution sizing analysis based on mission parameters, operational scenarios, and vehicle constraints
  • Develop and maintain spacecraft power models throughout the full spacecraft development lifecycle
  • Define and manage spacecraft power distribution architectures supporting avionics, propulsion, payload, RF communications, and vehicle‑level operations
  • Drive technical resolution of subsystem integration challenges involving power allocation, electrical compatibility, redundancy, fault management, and operational constraints
  • Perform make‑versus‑buy trades supporting EPS hardware architecture and procurement decisions
  • Support management of EPS hardware vendors, suppliers, hardware deliveries, and subsystem integration schedules
  • Author spacecraft EPS integration and test (I&T) plans supporting subsystem validation, vehicle integration, environmental testing, and flight readiness activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure EPS architectures support reliability, manufacturability, mission longevity, and operational flexibility
  • Support spacecraft assembly, integration, environmental testing, and launch campaign readiness activities
  • Participate in major spacecraft reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and FRR activities
What It Takes
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • 7+ years of experience developing spacecraft Electric Power Subsystems (EPS)
  • Experience deriving spacecraft electric power subsystem requirements and interface definitions
  • Experience performing spacecraft power generation and power storage sizing analysis based on mission parameters, vehicle constraints, and operational scenarios
  • Experience with spacecraft power distribution architectures and subsystem integration
  • Experience managing component suppliers and hardware vendors supporting spacecraft development programs
  • Experience constructing and maintaining spacecraft power models throughout spacecraft development life cycles
  • Experience working with high‑power and high‑current spacecraft power system requirements
  • Strong systems‑level understanding of spacecraft subsystem interactions and electrical integration considerations
  • Strong technical communication, analytical, and cross‑functional coordination skills
  • Comfortable operating in fast‑paced spacecraft development environments with high ownership and execution expectations
Nice‑to‑Have Experience
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience working across multiple spacecraft subsystems including propulsion, avionics, communications, payloads, and GNC systems
  • Experience working with high‑voltage spacecraft EPS architectures
  • Experience working with mixed‑voltage spacecraft power systems
  • Experience supporting spacecraft AI&T activities including vehicle‑level…
