Mistral is seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to support our product lines at our Nottingham, Maryland manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for leading mechanical engineering activities from concept development through production, managing internal and contract engineering resources, and ensuring the quality, performance, and manufacturability of proprietary products.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a hands‑on approach to product development in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Engineering Leadership & Product Development- Design products and systems using a Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering approach, incorporating Design-to-Cost and Value Engineering principles.
- Manage and mentor internal mechanical engineering staff and coordinate the activities of contract engineering resources.
- Oversee the design, development, testing, validation, and continuous improvement of company intellectual property (IP) products.
- Lead or support Research & Development (R&D) initiatives as assigned.
- Direct, develop, and execute functional, qualification, and performance testing procedures for company products.
- Ensure engineering designs meet customer requirements, quality standards, manufacturing capabilities, and program objectives.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management to support product lifecycle activities.
- Maintain ownership and quality control of Technical Data Packages (TDPs) throughout the product lifecycle.
- Manage engineering documentation using Solid Works CAD, Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems, and manufacturing inventory tools.
- Ensure design documentation, drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and revision control processes are accurate and up to date.
- Support configuration management and product change control activities.
- Support Business Development Managers in capture management activities, including responding to Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and preparing technical proposals.
- Lead and support proposal development efforts, including technical writing, cost estimation support, and technical solution development.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.

- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience using CAD software and Solid Works in a product development environment.
- Strong proficiency with Solid Works; experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

- Experience designing and developing products utilizing plastic, metal, and/or wood materials.
- Experience in manufacturing, defense, law enforcement, or related industries.
- Experience managing engineering teams and external engineering resources.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, product lifecycle management, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with technical proposal development and customer‑facing engineering support.
- Primarily office and manufacturing facility environment.
- Ability to occasionally inspect products, prototypes, and manufacturing operations on the production floor.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use computer equipment for extended periods.
