Job Overview

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our Transportation Engineering team in Towson, MD;
Rockville, MD; or Raleigh, NC. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of traffic operations and modeling, the ability to develop creative and effective technical solutions, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The role includes traffic operations analysis, modeling, micro-simulation, capacity analysis, safety investigations, traffic impact studies, transportation planning studies, and feasibility studies.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct traffic operational analysis using modeling tools
  • Provide analysis to support development of design solutions and operational improvements
  • Conduct crash data analysis and perform safety studies for intersections and corridors
  • Prepare summary tables, sketches, and exhibits to communicate technical findings
  • Write technical reports and prepare technical memoranda
  • Tabulate, process, and prepare deliverables related to traffic data collection tasks
  • Perform on-site field investigations when required
  • Communicate and collaborate in a team environment
Qualifications
  • BSCE with 3-6 years of experience in traffic engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) required; PE/PTOE is a plus
  • Understanding of traffic analysis concepts and experience with traffic model development
  • Proficiency with Synchro/Sim Traffic/Warrants, SIDRA, HCS
  • Working knowledge of roadway design principles, and familiarity with MUTCD, ITE, FHWA, and AASHTO manuals and procedures
  • Experience working with Micro Station and/or AutoCAD is a plus
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills; positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
