Project Controls Engineer

Job Overview

This role is responsible for providing project controls support to program and project leadership across planning and scheduling, cost, estimating, and change management/trends for a variety of programs and projects. The role documents and captures project plans, monitors performance, and reports key metrics back to leadership.

• Provide project controls support to project teams.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules, ensuring accurate timelines and resource allocation.
• Support leadership in collecting progress updates and updating schedules to reflect actual progress and changes.
• Track and monitor project budgets, expenses, and forecasts.
• Prepare cost reports and financial analyses.
• Help identify project risks and support development of mitigation strategies.
• Maintain risk registers and ensure timely updates.
• Create and distribute project status reports and dashboards to leadership.
• Support the development of project metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Maintain professional demeanor and behavior in all forms of communication.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Level II
  : 3+ years in engineering or project management; support core tasks with guidance. May perform detailed quantity surveys.
• Level III
  : 5+ years; execute core tasks with minimal supervision. May conduct detailed quantity surveys.
• Level IV
  : 10+ years; lead execution of core tasks independently, provide guidance to junior members, lead estimate deliverables, review estimate work products.
• Level V: 15+ years; lead independent judgment, supervise overall estimate processes, oversee use of advanced estimating tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Basic understanding of engineering documents and ability to derive quantities.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with project management software and estimating tools.
• Knowledge of planning and scheduling, cost management, estimating, or change management and trends.
• Certification of experience varies by level:
  Level II – 3+ years;
  Level III – 5+ years;
  Level IV – 10+ years;
  Level V – 15+ years.

On‑site hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday‑Friday.

Base salary ranges (per year):

• Level II: $91,275 – $152,125
• Level III: $105,000 – $175,000
• Level IV: $120,675 – $201,125
• Level V: $138,900 – $231,500
