This role is responsible for performing safety analysis and/or probabilistic risk assessments (PRA) in accordance with appropriate industry standards and guidance, authoring and reviewing safety analysis/PRA‑related documents, and providing results and insights to the design of X‑energy technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Lead system‑level thermal‑fluid analyses and process design using 1‑D system simulation codes.
  • Guide, initiate source term analyses and radiological consequence analysis.
  • Lead development of models to support licensing basis event analysis and evaluations.
  • Perform elementary mathematical model programming for engineering calculations.
  • Develop verification and validation plans, including code V&V efforts.
  • Lead the execution of core tasks without close supervision, exercising independent judgment.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to junior team members on core tasks.
  • Set technical direction at the enterprise level by developing and owning technology or discipline‑specific roadmaps, best practices, and/or design criteria.
  • Interpret, apply, and assess standards, showing increasing proficiency.
  • Collaborate and communicate with key stakeholders in engineering, project leadership, and the safety analysis team to provide frequent updates on project progress, maintain priority order, adapt to change, and raise concerns regarding project timelines.
  • Provide engineering/technical expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Contribute to team decision‑making in achieving business goals through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to well‑defined problems and analyses.
  • Conduct engineering and related studies; complete routine engineering projects with minimal oversight while independently managing project schedules and interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain safety basis documents and safety basis program procedures.
  • Identify and describe the interrelationship of safety basis requirements to existing and new designs and operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation to inform system/subsystem requirements and specifications.
  • Interface with customers and regulators in nuclear safety reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and meet project objectives.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (nuclear, chemical, mechanical, etc.) from an ABET‑accredited university required.
  • Typically 10 years of experience in an engineering role required for a LevelIV position.
  • Typically 15 years of experience in an engineering role required for a LevelV position.
  • Typically 20 years of experience in an engineering role required for a LevelVI position.
  • A master’s degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution) may be in lieu of two years of experience.
  • A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution) may be in lieu of three years of experience.
  • Previous experience at X‑energy meeting performance standards may be in lieu of years of experience.

Standard office schedule is 8:00am‑5:00pm ET, Mon‑Fri

Compensation

LevelIV: $112,000 – $166,000
LevelV: $138,500 – $193,000
LevelVI: $166,000 – $221,000
