Thermal Analysis Engineer
We are seeking an engineer to design and develop mechanical systems, structures, and components for nuclear products and facilities, ensuring they meet all technical specifications and requirements.
Responsibilities- Develop mechanical/physical concepts and support the design of structures, systems, and components for nuclear safety.
- Identify, collect, and document applicable requirements, interfaces, and design criteria, coordinating with stakeholders.
- Plan and perform analysis to assess SSCs for intended functions and technical specifications.
- Perform hand calculations and analytical tools for structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other scoping calculations.
- Support reactor and plant control philosophy implementation in plant models, simulations, and digital twins.
- Support sizing and analysis of components such as heat exchangers, pumps, circulators, and turbo machinery.
- Perform system‑level thermodynamic analyses and process design using simulation codes to support design iterations of X‑energy reactors.
- Assess SSCs for manufacturability, assembly, and integration considerations.
- Write and develop design documentation such as design basis documents, technical reports, calculations, and drawings.
- Develop Verification & Validation plans for analytical tools and support qualification of toolset.
- Perform work in accordance with quality procedures for design and configuration management.
- Provide independent reviews and acceptance reviews of engineering deliverables and data.
- Maintain professional communication at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline (e.g., nuclear, aerospace, chemical).
- Proficiency with engineering hand calculations.
- Experience with 1‑D flow solvers such as RELAP, Flownex, NPSS, SINDA/FLUINT, Flomaster or similar.

Travel ExpectationsUp to 10% as needed.
Hours8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday–Friday
CompensationLevel I: $75,000 – $100,000
Level II: $95,000 – $120,000
Level III: $115,000 – $140,000
Full time – Exempt
