Axle is seeking a highly motivated Finance and Accounting Associate to support core accounting operations and help strengthen our financial processes. This role will assist with daily finance activities such as accounts payable/receivable, general ledger activities, financial reporting preparation, and process improvement initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop finance skills and contribute to building scalable accounting functions within a dynamic, interdisciplinary organization.

This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a finance and accounting structure with a new mission and perspective, and one that is actively investing in and operating multiple businesses. This role requires the ability to work out of our Rockville, MD or Tysons. VA office five days per week.

• Support day‑to‑day accounting activities, including AP, AR, payroll coordination, and general ledger maintenance.
• Assist with monthly close, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial schedules.
• Help prepare standard reports for internal teams and leadership, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Utilize automation tools to reduce manual data entry and reporting tasks.
• Collaborate with the Finance and Accounting team to maintain accurate documentation and strong internal controls.
• Support compliance and audit readiness tasks by organizing files and assisting with audit requests.
• Contribute to process improvements, including automation opportunities and documentation standardization.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with other departments on finance‑related requests.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA eligibility preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting/finance experience or internship experience.
• Comfortable integrating AI‑powered tools into existing systems and workflows.
• Proficiency in Excel; exposure to ERP/accounting systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
• Team‑oriented with eagerness to learn and grow in a fast‑paced environment.
