Make a Difference with Every Mind –Spring Advocacy Internship Opportunity!
This internship takes place in the Spring semester, typically beginning in early January and ending May/June.

As an Advocacy Intern, you’ll support Every Mind’s policy and legislative initiatives while gaining hands‑on experience in research, analysis, and government relations. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about mental health policy, local politics, and the legislative process while making a meaningful impact.
Schedule:Flexible, part-time (16-24 hours/week during business hours, M–F)
Location:Every Mind Headquarters, Rockville, MD (with hybrid opportunities)
You’ll work primarily with the Advocacy Department while also collaborating with program staff across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Research and Analysis:
Conduct research on current mental health policies and legislative proposals at local, state, and federal levels - Policy Development:
Collaborate with team members to draft policy proposals, position papers, talking points, and testimony - Outreach and Relationships:
Connect with county and state level legislators to support advocacy initiatives and build relationships with offices - Online Database Management:
Support procedures to track legislation and communications with outside agencies - Frequent travel between sites
- Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student studying Public Policy, Political Science, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
- Strong research, writing, and critical analysis skills.
- Interest in mental health policy, advocacy, and legislative processes.
- Comfortable communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers and community members.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with online legislative tracking tools a plus.
- Reliable Transportation; will go to regular outreach events
- Firsthand experience with advocacy strategies and the legislative process.
