* About the Role
* We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented
* Surgical Coordinator
* to support a high-volume medical office. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of surgery scheduling and serve as the central communication point between physicians, patients, surgical facilities, and insurance providers. This position requires strong medical terminology knowledge, exceptional coordination skills, and the ability to deliver a professional and compassionate patient experience.
* Key Responsibilities
* * Surgical Scheduling & Coordination
* * Manage internal surgery scheduling based on physician orders.
* Reserve operating room dates and times, and coordinate anesthesia, surgical assistants, representatives, and any required equipment.
* Communicate all pre-operative instructions, preparation requirements, dates, times, and locations to patients.
* Coordinate and schedule pre-operative testing and diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray).
* Prepare and send all required documentation to surgical facilities, including authorizations, History & Physical, signed surgical orders, and consent forms.
* Scan all surgery-related documents into the EMR to maintain complete and accurate records.
* Insurance & Authorization Management
* * Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and pre-certifications using accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
* Review payer policies to ensure proper authorization and prevent delays in reimbursement.
* Communicate with payers, facilities, and internal teams to resolve authorization issues.
* Provide patients with clear explanations of their financial responsibilities.
* Patient Interaction & Care Coordination
* * Review patient medication lists and health histories that may impact surgical clearance.
* Confirm surgery dates with patients, facilities, and anesthesia.
* Ensure all operative reports and pathology results are accurately captured in the chart.
* Schedule follow-up appointments, stent removals, post-op visits, and additional testing as needed.
* Administrative & Operational Duties
* * Release unused OR blocks in compliance with scheduling policies.
* Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the care team.
* Support continuity of care by coordinating services and resolving issues promptly.
* Assist with orienting and training junior staff when necessary.
* Adhere to all compliance standards, including clinical and administrative regulations.
* Required Qualifications
* * High School Diploma or GED required.
* At least three years of experience in a surgical practice or medical office setting.
* Experience with surgical scheduling, insurance verification, and prior authorizations.
* Strong knowledge of medical and surgical terminology.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as EMR systems.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
* Preferred Skills
* * Prior-authorization experience.
* Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
* Experience supporting multiple providers or high-volume specialties.
* Work Environment
* * Fast-paced medical office setting.
* Requires strong attention to detail, consistent follow-through, and clear communication.

* * Pay Rate:* $18.00 - $23.00 per hour. (Based on experience)
* * Contract-to-Hire Duration:
* 6 months.

* Pay and Benefits
* The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
