Position: Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Variable Part Time, Imaging

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Nuclear Medical Technologist who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a Nuclear Medical Technologist you will:
  • Consistently produce high quality NM and/or PET images using knowledge of NM education, IV skills, computer processing and image enhancement.
  • Prepare and administer medications and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with established procedure.
  • Perform Nuclear Medicine examinations in accordance with the protocols established by the radiologists. Demonstrates proficiency in operating gamma cameras, SPECT/CT and/or PET/CT machines, uptake probes, well counters, dose calibrators, survey meters and all ancillary equipment within the Nuclear Medicine department.
  • Accurately perform documentation in all computer systems within Nuclear Medicine and Imaging Services pertinent to Nuclear Medicine (RIS, PACS, NMIS, image reformatting).
  • Perform Hot Lab functions including acceptance, maintenance and documentation of radiopharmaceuticals. Understands principles of radiation safety.
  • Properly identify patients, review orders and select scanning protocols to maximize quality and safe patient care in Nuclear Medicine. Perform periodic QA checks as required by state and federal law.
  • Maximize patient throughput and demonstrate teamwork with coworkers by managing large patient volume.
  • Work with the Director, Manager and Radiologist to develop policies, procedures and protocols including dose reduction activities.
  • Maintain written protocols for each site and ensure that the protocols in the systems are consistent with the written protocols.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, image quality checks and other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will possess:
  • High school or GED.
  • Graduate of an AMA/JRCERT Accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • 2 years Nuclear Medicine Technology experience preferred; CT experience preferred.
  • State of Maryland Nuclear Medicine Technologist license, ARRT (N)(CT) or NMTCB (CNMT).
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Work Schedule

Employment Type:

Variable Part-time

Hours per week: 16 hrs/week

Typical daily schedule:
Required, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday and/or Thursday, other shifts available as well.

Rotating

Holiday requirements:
Required / Rotating / On-call / Follow company holiday calendar

On-call:
Yes (2x per week – 4 p.m.–7 a.m. weekdays, weekend call 7 a.m.–7 a.m.)

Pay Range

$37.17 – $55.76 per hour

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) this position is classified as:
