Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Student Academy

Overview

White Oak Medical Center. Adventist Health Care seeks to hire students for our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Academy who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Upon successful completion of the six-week course, including clinicals, and receiving certification as a licensed CNA from the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON), you will be promoted to a department at one of our four acute care entities:

  • Shady Grove Medical Center (Rockville)
  • White Oak Medical Center (Silver Spring)
  • AHC Rehabilitation (Acute Rehab - Rockville)
  • Fort Washington Medical Center (Fort Washington)
Responsibilities
  • Desire certification as a nursing assistant and engage in professional development through participation in the Adventist Health Care Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program.
  • Develop the clinical competence required of the certified nursing assistant (CNA) role, leading to successful performance in the CNA role at Adventist Health Care.
  • Develop clinical competence through a variety of modalities, including classroom, simulation, and clinical application of learning on patient care units (clinical hours overseen by educator). Clinical competence includes technical skills (example: VS, Accu-check, mobility devices, activities of daily living, feeding) and interpersonal skills (example: building relationships with patients and team members).
  • Demonstrate a positive outlook on safety, lifelong learning, professionalism, and patient experience throughout the program.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma required
  • English proficiency: reading, writing, and spoken required
  • Background check for healthcare employees required
  • Basic computer skills required

Program Guidelines and Requirements
  • Six week CNA training program; 4 weeks coursework and 2 weeks clinical
  • Class schedule (4 weeks) - Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm at Shady Grove Medical Center Sim Lab in Rockville
  • Clinicals schedule (2 weeks) - 3 12-hour shifts per week - split between Shady Grove Medical Center (Rockville) and White Oak Medical Center (Silver Spring)
  • Completion once trainee completes all training program requirements (coursework + clinicals) and receives CNA license by the Maryland Board of Nursing after passing the state board exam
  • CNA graduate will continue employment at one of the four Adventist Health Care assigned entities as a licensed CNA
  • Entities for employment are one of:
    Shady Grove Medical Center, White Oak Medical Center, AHC Rehabilitation Hospital, or Fort Washington Medical Center
  • AHC employment commitment of 12 months as licensed CNA

This is for cohort 22, starting on April 6th, 2026.

This is a no-program-fee opportunity
; CNA trainees are full-time compensated AHC employees; quality classroom learning experience; real-life clinical training in a hospital setting; training materials and two sets of scrubs provided; no prior patient care experience necessary.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.79

If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this position is classified as: United States of America (Non-Exempt)
