Why Work Here
This role puts someone at the center of a major platform transformation, with real influence over how a critical enterprise system is designed and used across the business. The organization operates in a highly regulated, mission-driven industry, so the work carries genuine long-term impact rather than routine process support. The team culture values close partnership between business and technical staff, with an emphasis on mentorship and knowledge-sharing across experience levels.
There's strong job stability here, along with meaningful investment in process improvement and professional development. Leadership is looking for someone who wants to be a lasting functional voice in shaping the platform's direction, not just execute a checklist, and is ready to invest in that person's growth and influence.
About the Role
This is a senior functional analyst position responsible for translating business needs into configured, validated solutions on an enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform. The person in this role will lead requirements gathering, functional design, and codeless configuration across major process areas such as change management, document control, and bill-of-material management, while also supporting integration with ERP, CAD, manufacturing, and quality systems.
It requires close partnership with developers, platform administrators, and outside implementation partners to keep processes standardized and compliant with relevant regulatory requirements. Beyond configuration work, this role leads user acceptance testing, mentors junior analysts, and represents the functional perspective in cross-functional planning. It's a strong fit for someone who enjoys bridging business and technical worlds and driving process improvement at scale.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements for product lifecycle, engineering change, document management, and bill-of-material processes.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications and solution designs, leading fit-gap analysis between current processes and the platform's out-of-the-box capabilities.
- Configure the PLM platform's data model and business rules including object types, revision rules, lists of values, forms, deep-copy rules, and access-control rules in line with configuration-management and validation requirements.
- Lead a platform migration effort, translating product-development and change-control requirements into configured, validated solutions within a regulated environment.
- Design and configure workflows, approval routes, and business-process handlers supporting engineering change management, document approval, and product release, including integration touchpoints with ERP systems.
- Author and maintain functional specifications, configuration specifications, traceability matrices, test protocols, and user procedures consistent with applicable regulatory and quality standards.
- Lead user acceptance testing, including building test plans and scripts, coordinating business testers, triaging and prioritizing defects, and confirming readiness for validation and production release.
- Support configuration of the platform's modern web client style sheets, commands, and views partnering with the development team to translate business needs into client-side experience requirements.
- Provide advanced functional support for production incidents and service requests, performing root-cause analysis and driving permanent corrective actions and continuous-improvement opportunities.
- Mentor junior analysts and power users, deliver training and enablement content, and serve as the functional subject-matter expert in cross-functional governance forums.
- Contribute to roadmap planning, release planning, and vendor-management activities, reviewing vendor deliverables against acceptance criteria.
- Represent the functional perspective in digital-thread initiatives connecting the PLM platform to downstream systems, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and process alignment across the product lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience as a functional analyst, business analyst, or consultant supporting an enterprise PLM platform.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring a PLM platform's data model without custom code, including object types, forms, lists of values, deep-copy rules, relationship rules, access rules, and organizational or project structures.
- Strong experience configuring workflows and approval processes for engineering change and document control, with familiarity with related change-management and scheduling tools.
- Experience leading user acceptance testing and validation…
