Biotechnology Technical Support Specialist / NIH Sales

Gene Copoeia, a growing biotech firm in Rockville, MD, is looking for a Technical Support Specialist/Inside Sales for its portfolio of genomics and proteomics-based technologies to provide pre- and post-sale technical support and/or to engage and follow up with leads proactively. This is an ideal opportunity for someone to apply their knowledge of molecular biology, genomics, and proteomics in a customer-focused position.

Responsibilities:

• Provide pre-sale consultation and post-sale technical assistance for expression plasmids, viral vectors including lentivirus and AAV, CRISPR-Cas9 solutions, molecular biology reagents, and other related research tools and services.
• Provide sales quotes, negotiate pricing, proactively engage and follow up with potential sales leads.
• Help customers with interpretation and analysis of data, suggest technical tips, and provide troubleshooting.
• Direct customer service team with respect to sales order processing, product shipment and documentation, quote generation, and other related tasks.
• Assist in management of production team by relaying technical details for new orders and providing instructions for quality control and assurance.
• Provide input to marketing team regarding customer feedback, website content, and sales analysis. Help formulate marketing strategies.
• Attend trade shows to represent company and assist with lead generation.

Requirements:

• MS degree and a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience in the life sciences.
• Experience/knowledge in vector-based cloning, gene expression profiling, cell and molecular biology, genome editing, immunology, and/or protein biochemistry is highly desirable.
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Customer-oriented
• Motivation and ability to quickly learn new and complex technical information.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Willingness and ability to undertake occasional overnight travel (7-10 days per year).
• Prior experience in customer service preferred.
