Aboutthe Position
Dexis is seeking an Editorial Technician IV to support a large-scale Army test and evaluation program. The project provides data collection, technical writing, computer operations,rangescheduling, and administrative support services necessary to execute the government’s test mission. Support encompasses testing of a wide variety of automotive, combat, electronic, general equipment, and ordnance materiel, with services including data collection and coordination, data compilation and processing, development and management of data collection forms, test monitoring, technical writing and editorial review, reporting, data and software administration, range scheduling, and related operational support.
The Editorial Technician IV reviews completed technical publications for coverage, clarity, organization, factual consistency, and compliance with government policies and publication practices. The role applies extensive knowledge of technical terminology and publishing standards, resolves complex editorial issues, provides technical assistance across varied publications, and brings significant leadership experience to the editorial function. Work will be performed primarily onsite in Aberdeen, Maryland, with travel to other locations within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) as required by mission needs.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
- Review completed projects to ensure adequate coverage of assigned topics, clarity of presentation, logical organization, and compliance with policy and agency practices.
- Demonstrateextensive familiarity with technical terminology, jargon, document formats, and multimedia formats.
- Convert photo and graphic file formats and insert web links, photographs, graphics, and video files.
- Interpret text to ensure consistency within documents.
- Apply extensive knowledge of regulations and policies affecting government publications, publishing concepts and practices, publication standards, and advances in publishing technology.
- Locate sources to verifyfactual information.
- Identify and correct discrepancies between text and charts, tables, and other graphics.
- Restructure sentences for clarity without altering the meaning of the text.
- Contact authors to resolve inconsistencies in factual information.
- Provide technical assistanceonpublications that differ in manner and style of presentation.
- Ensure documents are error‑free before submission to originating offices.
- Ten (10) years of experience as an Editorial Technician or Technical Writer; OR an Associate’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Mass Communications, Science, or Engineering and eight (8) years of experience in technical writing or editing; OR a Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Communications, or Science and six (6) years of experience in technical writing or editing.
- Must be proficient in the advanced functionality and tools of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
- Must have five (5) years of leadership experience.
- Mustpossessa high school diploma.
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office software.
- Must be able to obtain andmaintaina Secret security clearance.
- Mustbe able to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned functions, which may include working in extreme heat or cold, high humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, at heights, and walking distances over unimproved terrain while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
