Senior Principal Solutions Architect - PLM & Digital Thread

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Principal Solutions Architect – PLM & Digital Thread serves as MSD's enterprise authority for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Digital Thread, Product Data Model Management, and Digital Thread initiatives.

This role is responsible for defining and executing the long-term PLM and Digital Thread strategy, enterprise architecture, governance framework, and technology roadmap supporting product development, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and regulatory operations.

The Senior Principal Solutions Architect partners with executive leadership to drive enterprise-wide digital thread initiatives, establish architecture standards, influence technology decisions, and ensure alignment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enterprise Strategy & Transformation alignment
• Define and champion the enterprise PLM and Digital Thread vision, strategy, governance framework, and multi-year roadmap aligned with MSD's business objectives.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, influencing decisions related to Digital Thread, Digital Twin, product data management, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
• Establish enterprise architecture standards and identify innovative technologies that improve operational performance, accelerate product development, and support MSD's long-term growth strategy.

Technical Architecture & Implementation
• Architect, configure, and implement PLM solutions in Teamcenter X to support engineering, quality, and manufacturing processes — with a focus on establishing a unified digital thread from product design through manufacturing execution and commercial operations.
• Partner with the Digital Thread Process Lead to translate defined process requirements into Teamcenter X configurations, workflows, and integrations.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on Siemens Teamcenter X: administer the platform, stay current with SaaS release cycles, and drive adoption of evolving best practices.
• Lead architecture reviews and approve solution designs impacting enterprise systems.
• Drive strategic roadmap planning for Teamcenter X and associated technology platforms.

Integration & Enterprise Data Flows
• Design and maintain integrations between Teamcenter X, MES platforms, and JD Edwards Enterprise One (JDE) — ensuring data integrity and process continuity across the product lifecycle.
• Design contextually relevant MES integrations covering work order execution, shop floor routing, material tracking, and production traceability.
• Support data-flow design between ERP and PLM/MES layers, including manufacturing, procurement, quality management, and inventory modules in JDE.
• Implement and maintain integrations with CAD tools (including ECAD), laboratory systems, and other enterprise applications.
• Establish enterprise integration architecture standards across PLM, MES, ERP, QMS, LIMS, and other critical business platforms.
• Define master data governance strategies and lifecycle management standards.

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
• Provide ongoing operational support for Teamcenter X and its integrated systems — including incident response, break/fix resolution, user support, system health monitoring, and vendor escalation coordination.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues across the PLM and integration stack.
• Drive continuous improvement of the PLM platform and integration architecture in alignment with MSD’s digital transformation roadmap.
• Lead vendor governance and strategic roadmap alignment with Siemens and other technology partners.
• Establish and monitor service-level objectives, performance metrics, and operational KPIs.Leadership & Collaboration
