The Prince George’s County Police Department is currently seeking experienced police officer (EPO) candidates to be considered for the Comparative Compliance EPO Academy. The agency seeks men and women who exhibit good character, sound judgment, honesty, reliability, and integrity, who blend together with a philosophy for community‑oriented policing and a strong desire to serve the interests of the citizens of Prince George’s County.
Candidates approved for hire in this position will attend a 23‑week Comparative Compliance EPO Academy, which is a professional learning environment for advanced officers, NOT a basic instructional academy. The Academy meets all Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) objectives for certification as a police officer in the State of Maryland. It is offered to all
EPO candidates must be currently certified by a recognized agency and have completed at least one and a half years as a full‑time police officer.
Examples of Work:
- Responding to calls; maintaining order in an assigned patrol area; enforcing criminal and traffic laws; preparing report writing; courtroom presentation of cases; and providing effective and efficient service to the citizens of Prince George’s County. Shift work is required.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently certified as a Police Officer with a minimum of 18 months (1.5 years) experience with current agency
- U.S. Citizen
- High School graduate; (60+ college credit hours preferred)
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Pass a comprehensive background investigation including review of Internal Affairs File, oral interview, polygraph, psychological evaluation, and medical evaluation
- Pass all of the qualification factors listed in the Additional Information
To be considered for employment, applicants must successfully complete all of the following steps:

- Comparative Compliance applicants must provide a copy of their basic training syllabus/curriculum, including hours
