Essential Functions
  • Assist the Maintenance Director with the day-to-day maintenance functions.

  • Assist the Maintenance Director with daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing maintenance assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.

  • Ensure that painting, rework or repairing of facility equipment is accomplished in accordance with established policies.

  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.

  • Assist the Maintenance Director with to ensure that fire protection and prevention programs are maintained by department personnel in accordance with our fire safety policies and procedures.

  • Assist the Maintenance Director with to ensure that all personnel wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects.

  • Assist the Maintenance Director with to ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a safe and attractive manner.

  • Assist in maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for hazardous chemicals in the maintenance department.

  • Assist the Maintenance Director with to ensure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing maintenance procedures.

  • Assist the Maintenance Director with to ensure that all personnel performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing such tasks.

  • Report occupational exposure incidents to the director.

  • Assist the Maintenance Director with to ensure that refuse is disposed of daily and in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.

  • Follow established policies governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious wastes.

  • Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Resident’s and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.

  • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Resident’s, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.

  • Answers and responds to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Resident care areas.

  • Reports all Resident concerns to the appropriate department head.

  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.

  • Communicate with other employees in a private and respectful manner.

  • Work and be proficient with certain computer systems designated by the company.

Supervisory Responsibility

None.

Work Environment

This job operates in a healthcare setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This role may also encounter Residents who may have contagious illnesses.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift equipment and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This position is part of a health care facility that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Evening and weekend work as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Preferred Education And Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One years of related experience.
