This is a operational leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced healthcare environments, takes ownership, and steps in—not around—challenges. The Agency Director is the clear operational authority of the agency and serves as the bridge between Senior Leadership, frontline teams, and external partners.

What You’ll Do

As Agency Director, you will:

  • Lead all daily agency operations with visible, engaged leadership
  • Actively manage escalations related to clients, staffing, clinical concerns, and incidents
  • Ensure staffing stability, coverage continuity, and proactive risk management
  • Oversee intake, admissions, care transitions, and continuity of care
  • Review and approve billing, payroll, overtime, and rate changes
  • Monitor KPIs including census, hours billed, overtime, staffing gaps, and compliance risk
  • Maintain full regulatory compliance (Maryland RSA/COMAR, DC HSA, and applicable regulations)
  • Prepare the agency for audits, inspections, and license renewals
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and manage team performance in partnership with HR
  • Serve as a professional representative of Smith Life Homecare with hospitals, facilities, and community partners

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience in home care or healthcare operations
  • Proven experience managing staffing, escalations, and compliance
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements in home care (MD and/or DC preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and execute consistently
  • Excellent communication, leadership presence, and accountability mindset
